Dear Brother Kelly, February
15, 2010
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ In whom
we live, and move, and have our survival. It gladdens my heart that God
Almighty has given me this opportunity to write you this letter. My motive
of writing you this letter is just to express my profound gratitude to you
and the brethren at Main Street for the parcel that you sent to me. I am in
deed very grateful and I pray that God Almighty will replenish the hands
that did that wonderful work. I received 18 CD’s, some course books, and a
mini audio CD player from you. May God in His infinite mercy bless you more
and more for you have put smiles and joy on my face and you provided me with
biblical materials from where I can learn and be able to edify my fellow
Christians and non-Christians about the gospel of Christ. I most sincerely
confess that since I received these materials from you, it has been my daily
bread. I listen to the A Cappella and the sermon, morning, noon, and the
evening with my uncle’s family who I am residing with as at now. We have all
benefited from this wonderful work of yours and the devoted brethren at Main
Street C of C. I notice in the bulletin enclosed in the parcel sent to me
that you were sick. I want you to know that I am always praying for you for
God to grant you quick recovery and also for the brethren whose names were
listed below in the bulletin, they are always in my prayer. I also want you
to put me in prayer also as I am preparing for my final exam in the college
that God that God should grant me wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and the
power of assimilation so that I will write and come out in flying color in
July 2010. Hearing your voice on radio, the pleading request that you made
for the lost souls in the world has made me to see you as Paul the Apostle
while I am a young Timothy. I love the way you speak and I want to be like
you. My prayer is that one day, I will work with you just like Paul and
Timothy in Main Street in propagation of the pure gospel of Christ our Lord
and Savior. Enclosed in this letter of mine is the answers to the
correspondence course that you sent to me. What then do I have to say, for
the time will not permit me to say much but I believe that one day, Paul
will see Timothy and Timothy will see Paul his role model and mentor. Keep
the good work going. Extend my greetings to all the brethren at Main Street,
your entire family, and all those whose voices I heard on the radio. Remain
blessed in the Lord as we continue in the service and proclamation of the
Good News about our Lord. Looking forward to hearing from you soon either on
the phone or through mail. Yours in His Vineyard, Ohema Godwin Pius

Below is a copy o f the letter being sent out in our CD ministry.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
We are writing to report to you as friends, brethren and faithful members
of our radio and internet audience …and also to explain to those of you in
our CD and tape ministry why we have not sent CD’s for 2 months.
We also wanted to bring you up to date on our plans and goals for 2010.
As most of you know, I suffered a massive heart attack and had four-way
bypass surgery this past Labor Day. The Lord spared me … but, there have
been complications. Thanks be to God, and early retirement from S.S., and
Medicare, I finally have AARP Supplemental insurance. My surgery this past
Monday was not successful in fixing the claudication in my leg with balloons
and stents. I will have major surgery December 17th, and will be
on my back at home for 7 to 10 days. God Willing, It is my plan to resume
preaching as soon as I can in January.
This Church is dedicated to 2 ministries: 1. Preaching the Gospel 2.
Feeding the Poor. Because we were broke and did not want to appeal for
financial help, we were forced to suspend our tape and CD ministry for a
time in order to keep our Radio broadcasts current and to continue feeding
the poor and hungry. We believe our listeners and supporters do all they can
and we are not going to ask you for more and more help, but rather we are
going to live within our budget. Suspending the CD ministry altogether saved
us about $2,000 a month. We will begin sending all four CDs once a month,
beginning in January 2010. This once a month, rather than once a week
mailing, will save us a $1,000 in postage alone... (that is 10,000 bologna
sandwiches @ 10 cents each).
Each week 1,800 to 2,000 meals are fed to the poor, meek, downtrodden and
homeless. Daily we feed 150 bologna sandwiches a day x 6 days = 900 bologna
sandwiches a week. Each morning 40 Senior breakfasts are served x 5 days =
200 per week. Sunday morning 200 breakfast burritos are served. We feed 200
in the building each Sunday after worship. 150 to go meals are sent to sick
and shut-ins and 150 bums and buggy people who won’t sober up and come to
church are fed out the kitchen window. See Psalm 41:1. Thanks be to God, the
brethren at The Bell Trust have partnered with us and they are paying about
30% of our food budget in 2010 with a one-time grant and we know that God
will supply the remaining 70%.
We would like to report to you some of our success: we had over a hundred
baptisms in 2009. We had almost a million hits on our website. Thousands are
attending our internet worship service each month. This past year, monthly
internet attendance at worship has gone from a low of 2,875 to a high of
23,456 each downloading a one-hour sermon. Each internet worship service
begins with: 3 great A cappella songs taken from year-end singing. Between
each song is a verse from the New Testament about A cappella singing and an
encouragement: “Why don’t you visit the Church of Christ nearest your home
and get some singing in your life?” This is followed by a 45 minute advanced
bible study in the form of a sermon and invitation song, another A cappella
song, a pre-communion song, Matthew 26:26-29 is read. A short prayer is
offered for the bread, fruit of the vine and offering. Then we have a
closing song. This is the Church of Christ not the Red Cross, if you want
the meal after worship be prepared to bring your Bible and study or eat out
the Kitchen Window.
We have an enormous internet audience. If statistics ring true our Radio
Audience should be 10 x the internet audience. This year we celebrate our 6th
year of broadcasting to the 7 million souls in North Texas. We have
done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now fully qualified
to do anything with nothing and that’s what faith is ... Because He
first loved me, I remain just: Kelly Lawson, Minister
Thanksgiving 2009
Being broke & having suffered a massive heart attack and bypass
surgery, I had decided to forgo a Thanksgiving dinner for the poor and
homeless for the 1st time in 16 years ... until my brother Carl Boyd made me
feel guilty by telling me that I was a sissy for letting a little thing like
being broke and bypass surgery interfere with my duty.
Out of nowhere Don Cates, a disciple from our radio program,
gave $100 to buy Turkeys. Sister Rebecca from Preston Crest gave us $150 for Thanksgiving
meal. Brother & Sister Vincent from Waterview gave $125 . We
prepared turkey, dressing, gravy, fruit salad, rolls, butter & cranberry
sauce. The grocery stores tried to rip us off for pumpkin pies by
going up from $2.00 to $5.00 each. We need 60-75 pies for the meal.
At which time the Webb Chapel Church of Christ ladies came thru and cooked 8
sheet cakes and sister Barbara Kenneymore & Mark brought the ice cream.
Sister Jones & her family from Grapevine, others from Saturn Rd,
Sister Rebecca and her family from Preston Crest & Brother & Sister
Vincent from the Waterview congregation came to serve. We did not advertise the meal
but between 300-400 showed up unannounced and were fed between 11:45 &
12:30. During a lull in the feeding, I went into the kitchen and got 2
volunteers at a time and took them around to every room, in order to put a
face on all the plates that they had been preparing. It was beautiful
and there was not a dry eye among the kitchen volunteers.
Christmas is coming up; were still broke and don't know how
we will pay for a Christmas lunch. I have to have more surgery but I
am sure Carl will not allow me to whine my way out of feeding the poor and
homeless. This time I'll try to remember to take some pictures.
Why don't you enrich your life on Christmas and come help
us?
Love you all,
Kelly Lawson |
